The Harlem Wizards visited Riverhead schools today to dazzle kids in a preview of their upcoming game against Riverhead’s teachers.
David Paul, known as DP, visited Roanoke Avenue Elementary School this morning. The 6’6” basketball player wowed the crowded gym and was even challenged by a young student named Carlos. Carlos had confidently told him before the show, “I’m a better basketball player than you.”
DP took Carlos up on the challenge. He gave him some tasks — which Carlos dubbed “too easy” — taught him a few new tricks and eventually stumped him. He then sent Carlos off with some goodies and two tickets to the Wizards upcoming annual game against Riverhead school’s staff.
The fifth Harlem Wizards Scholarship Fundraiser will be held on November 9 at Riverhead High School. The Wizards will go head-to-head against Riverhead’s faculty and staff.
The event typically sells out each year.
General admission tickets are available locally at Duffy’s Deli in Jamesport and Riverhead Safe-T-Swim or through the district’s PTO groups. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door if still available. Student ticket price is $10.
Reserved and court-side seating will be sold exclusively online and are $20 and $30 respectively. Court-side seating includes a meet and greet with the Wizards prior to the game. Reserved tickets include preferential seating as well as a team poster.
