The National Weather Service has upped the snow accumulations forecast for the East End and issued a winter storm warning for the region.
Five to seven inches of snow is now expected to blanket eastern Long Island and southern Connecticut tomorrow, the weather service said.
Heavy snow and difficult travel conditions are expected, according to the forecast.
Snow accumulation on pavement will be more likely in the afternoon and evening. Travelers should also be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.
The winter storm warning is in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday.
