Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Old Country Road between Harrison Avenue and Roanoke Avenue in Riverhead are closed due to a damaged utility pole, Riverhead Town police said.
PSEG Long Island is on scene to make repairs, police said.
“A military transport vehicle moving a large plow came in contact with a Verizon line,” Riverhead Police Chief Ed Frost said in a text message this afternoon. Repair crews already on scene, he said.
The incident took place at 9:37 a.m. Tuesday, the chief said.
