More than 50 years after he wrote them, Cole Porter’s classic songs still retain their sophisticated smoothness — one source of their popularity. Locals will be treated to a concert of some Porter favorites from the 40s and 50s at the Jamesport Meeting House on Sunday, Apr. 29 at 4 p.m.
George Moravek, the director of the Jamesport Meeting House Chorus says Porter is his “all-time favorite composer” and that he “loves working with this music.” The concert will include familiar Porter numbers like “Begin the Beguine,” “Night and Day,” “I Get A Kick Out of You” and “Anything Goes.”
Soloists will include Dee Martin, Dorothy Piscitelli, Michael Bonti, Rusty Kransky, Bill Batcher, Marguerite Volonts and Suzanne Breitenbach.
There is a suggested $10 donation. The concert will be repeated on May 6 at 3 p.m. at Peconic Landing.
