MTA Police have identified the man found dead on the platform of the Riverhead train station Tuesday night as Vincent O’Dowd, age 41, whom they described as undomiciled.

A spokesperson for Suffolk County said today O’Dowd’s cause of death was not yet available from the medical examiner’s office, which removed the body for autopsy.

Riverhead Town Police described the deceased man as someone known to the department. Police records indicate O’Dowd had been arrested numerous times over the past decade on charges such as possession of an open alcohol container, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. O’Dowd has been living in and around the Riverhead area for the past decade.

His body was found late Tuesday night on the Riverhead train platform. Police said Wednesday the circumstances of his death did not appear to be suspicious.
