The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Northeast Carpenters will conduct a recruitment for five carpenter apprentices beginning August 31 and ending August 30, 2019, the New York State Department of Labor announced this week.

Applications must be obtained and submitted in person at the Northeast Carpenters Training Center, 270 Motor Parkway, Dept. B, Hauppauge, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

Applicants must bring their proof of high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma at time of application. Applications must be received no later than August 30, 2019. Applicants must have a valid photo identification to obtain an application. Copies of the photo identification and social security card will be required after the offer of employment.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED). Proof will be required at the time of application.

  • Must pass a post-offer drug test, at the expense of the sponsor. If an applicant tests positive, he/she cannot reapply for one year.

Must participate in an interview, if eligible.

For further information, applicants should contact their nearest New York State Department of Labor office or the Empire State Carpenters Apprenticeship Committee at (631) 952-9555.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
