The Suffolk County Historical Society will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Hurricane of ’38 with an exhibit curated by Jaime Karbowiak titled The Long Island Express: Remembering the 1938 Hurricane. The museum will hold an opening day reception on September 22 at 1 p.m.
The exhibit runs through October in the museum’s Gish gallery and features historic photographs, newspaper reports, personal accounts, and artifacts salvaged from the wreckage.
Admission is free on opening day. Refreshments will be served.
