The Peconic Bay Power Squadron will offer a marine safety class titled “Man Overboard” at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at West Marine in Riverhead. Attendees will discover how to equip and maneuver their boat to retrieve someone in the water.
Essential for boating safety, this seminar teaches boaters what to do if you fall overboard. Attendees will also learn how to recover a passenger who has fallen overboard, how to set up your boat with man overboard (MOB) equipment, how to maneuver your vessel to keep the rescuer close to the person in the water, and different methods of recovering the person overboard.
There is a $35 fee which includes a student guide.
