Riverhead’s recreation trail at the Calverton Enterprise Park will be closed to the public from Jan. 7 through Jan. 31 for the shotgun hunting season for deer.
Other town-owned properties where hunting is allowed during the special firearms season this month will also be closed to the public, including: the rest of the town-owned land in the enterprise park and the property located at 1751 Sound Avenue, Calverton.
Shotgun hunting for deer on town-owned land during the special firearms season is allowed by permit only. Permits were issued by lottery held Dec. 5. Hunters must also have valid N.Y. State big game licenses.
