Main Street will be the subject of discussion at a public forum scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31 at Riverhead Town Hall.
The town board is hosting the forum to engage the public in a dialogue the future development of Main Street.
Board members have been looking at possible revisions to the DC-1 zoning district code, working with volunteers the board appointed to a new downtown revitalization committee and with the town’s principal planner, Jefferson Murphree. He will present a “rough draft” of possible changes to the DC-1 code, according to a notice published by the town.
Among the measures being discussed are possible reductions in the maximum height of buildings along Main Street, building design and lot coverage.
The purpose of the forum is to foster a two-way discussion with members of the community about the future of Main Street, Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith said.
There will be opportunity for public comments following a presentation by the town planner.
The forum is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
The event will be live-streamed on the town’s website and broadcast live on cable Ch. 22.
