Riverhead Police made 83 arrests in the month of March, according to data provided by Chief of Police David Hegermiller.
According to the data, the breakdown of arrests and charges in March:
21 outstanding warrant
15 petit larceny
12 aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle
8 driving while intoxicated
4 criminal possession of controlled substance
4 town code violation
4 unlawful possession of marijuana
3 harassment
2 criminal contempt
2 criminal possession of stolen property
2 unauthorized use of a vehicle
1 assault
1 criminal obstruction of breathing
1 endangering the welfare of a child
1 forgery
1 grand larceny
1 theft of service
None of the arrests made were of juveniles.
Riverhead police received 2,469 calls in March — 152 involved reports of criminal incidents and the balance, 2,317 were reports of noncriminal incidents.
The 152 criminal incidents reported include petit larceny (45), harassment (28), criminal mischief (13) and grand larceny (10), burglary (8), illegal dumping (5), fraud (4), criminal trespass (4), identity theft (3), stolen vehicle (3), assault (2), sexual offense (2), graffiti (2) as well as incidents of menacing, forcible touching, and robbery.
Noncriminal incident calls included a wide variety of things, from responding to automatic alarms, dangerous conditions, disabled motor vehicles, motor vehicle accidents, suspicious person/ suspicious vehicle reports and ambulance calls (known as aided cases).
Police responded to 133 motor vehicle accidents during the month. None involved fatalities, according to the data.
Riverhead police issued 805 summonses in March, including 174 parking tickets.
