East End Tick & Mosquito Control and Tick Wise Education will host a tick borne disease symposium Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Long Island Aquarium Sea Star Ballroom.

Topics presented include tick borne illnesses and: mental health and addiction, pediatric concerns and learning disabilities; lyme testing challenges, new ICD-11 diagnosis codes and new treatments for Lyme disease, presented by Drs. Robert Bransfield, Dan Cameron, Rosalie Greenberg and Joe Burrascano. Local doctors will also participate in a Q&A discussion.

Book signings and presentations wil be offered by authors Jenna Luche-Thayer (“$lyme” and “The Ad hoc Committee for Health Equity in ICD11 Diagnosis Codes”) and Kris Newby (“Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease” scheduled for release on May 14, 2019).

Wellness and tick bite prevention products and will be available. Continuing education credits will also be available for social workers and mental health counselors.
