Michelangelo of Riverhead will be formally opening its doors on East Main Street by the end of this week.
The Italian restaurant and pizzeria is conducting a soft opening this week, which the owners hope to keep low-key while they are training staff members.
“We don’t want to be bombarded and have people leave disappointed,” said Russ DiStefano. “Everybody’s learning the equipment, the computers. We’ll be working out the kinks.”
Michelangelo’s will have a limited menu during the soft opening period, he said.
The former RiverheadProject and Sonoma Grill site has been completely renovated inside and out. It features a covered outdoor dining area, a dining room with table service and a full bar, plus a pizzeria with counter and takeout service.
The restaurant, located at 300 East Main Street, plans to be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
