The Riverhead Water District will begin flushing the mains in a portion of its system next week.
The limited fall flushing will be take place mainly along Middle Road east of Roanoke Avenue to Doctors Path and north to Reeves Avenue.
All customers in that area should check their water before doing any washing, the water district said. “If the water is discolored, open a tap and run it for several minutes. If it doesn’t run clear, wait awhile and try again,” the district said.
