A man was beaten and robbed by three assailants early this morning in the First Street parking lot near the First Congregational Church, Riverhead Police said in a press release.
Police said a 55-year-old man reported he was accosted by three unknown males as he was walking through the parking lot at about 5 a.m. today. The men struck him in the face repeatedly as they removed his wallet, which contained $500, according to the report. They fled the area on foot, police said.
A search of the area for the subjects revealed negative results. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500.
