Riverhead Town Police are seeking information about a homeless man found deceased in a downtown parking lot yesterday evening,
Police said the deceased man was found at about 6:20 p.m. yesterday next to a trash container in the municipal parking lot north of West Main Street between Griffing and Roanoke Avenues.
The man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was 46 years old and undomiciled, police said in a press release this morning. Patrol officers found the man when they responded to a 911 call about an unconscious male in the parking lot.
A preliminary investigation by detectives and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the man was not suspected to be a victim of violence or foul play, police said.
Anyone with additional information is urged to call the Riverhead Town Police Department, at 631-727-4500 x 312. All calls will remain anonymous, police said.
