The affiliation between Long Island Community Hospital and NYU Langone Health is now official, the two hospitals announced today.
“NYU Langone Health System is now the active parent of Long Island Community Hospital, creating a clinically integrated healthcare network between the two organizations,” NYU Langone said in a press release.
The hospitals announced their intention to affiliate last summer and have since received state and federal regulatory approvals, NYU Langone said.
Long Island Community Hospital President and CEO Richard Margulis will continue to lead the Patchogue-based hospital, according to the press release.
The affiliation further extends NYU Langone’s healthcare network into eastern Long Island.
“Long Island Community Hospital is a valuable addition to NYU Langone Health’s network on Long Island and will play an integral role in expanding the breadth and depth of our healthcare services to Long Islanders,” said NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island’s Senior Vice President and Chief of Hospital Operations Joseph Greco MD.
“Together, we are committed to delivering world-class medical capabilities to all corners of the island, providing the highest-quality patient care to meet the needs of our communities,” Greco said.
The affiliation will enable the transformation of Long Island Community Hospital’s facilities, technologies, and processes to help catapult the hospital into becoming the dominant healthcare provider in Suffolk County, with unparalleled quality, efficiency, and access to world-class care, NYU Langone said.
“Long Island Community Hospital is entering a new era through our affiliation with this highly respected health system, NYU Langone Health, and we are committed to strengthening our services to optimize patient care,” Margulis said. “Our partnership with NYU Langone brings remarkable resources and new technologies to our organization that will take our capabilities and quality of care to new levels.”
NYU Langone Health has six inpatient locations and more than 300 ambulatory sites throughout the New York-metro region and Long Island, with more than 150 practices in Queens and on Long Island, according to the hospital’s press release.
