The 25th Annual 5K Run for the Ridley will be held in Riverhead on May 7.

The event benefits the New York Marine Rescue Center, which operates out of the Long Island Aquarium and rehabilitates cold-stunned sea turtles, like the rare and critically endangered Atlantic Ridley sea turtle, the namesake of the event.

Check in begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts promptly at 8 a.m. on McDermott Avenue at the Peconic Riverfront. The first 150 runners will receive a customized tee shirt.

Participants can register for $40 cash in-person on the day of the event or online for $35. Anybody can also participate virtually for $30 by recording or submitting their time online.
