Run for the Ridley

The Run for the Ridley 5K benefits the New York Marine Rescue Center in Riverhead, which rehabilitates cold-stunned sea turtles, like the rare and critically endangered Atlantic Ridley sea turtle, the namesake of the event.

The 20th annual Run for the Ridley is scheduled for Oct. 22. Run or walk faster than a cold-stunned turtle to help them recover from their trauma.

Despite overcast skies and rain, more than 170 people turned out to Run for the Ridley today, the 19th annual 5K race held in downtown Riverhead to benefit the Riverhead Foundation.

This popular run raises money to support the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation's many programs.
