Fifty-four Riverhead High School students have been named AP Scholars, the Riverhead school district announced in a press release.

Thirty-four Riverhead High School students received the designation of AP Scholar, granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. Six students received the designation of AP Scholar with Honor, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Fourteen students received the designation of AP Scholar with Distinction, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Three Riverhead High School students also qualified for the College Board National Recognition Program based on their outstanding performances on the PSAT/NMSQT exam in 2021. They are: Amaya Hopkins, who received the National African American Recognition Award, and Jennifer Alonzo Moreno and Kimberly Mendez, who both received the National Hispanic Recognition Award. Jennifer is also an AP Scholar with Distinction, and Kimberly is an AP Scholar.

Riverhead School Superintendent Augustine Tornatore said in the press release he and the entire district are proud of the “amazing academic achievements” of the students.
