Since Christmas Day fell on a Sunday this year, the holiday is officially observed on Monday, Dec. 26 by governments, most banks and many businesses.

Government offices, courts and the N.Y. Stock Exchange will be closed today. Nasdaq trading and bond markets will also be closed.

Most bank branches are also closed for the holiday, including Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, Wells Fargo, M&T Bank and Dime Community Bank.

The post office is closed today and there will be no regular mail delivery.

There is no UPS regular pickup or delivery service today. FedEx offices are open and most FedEx services will be operating.

The Long Island Railroad is running on a weekday schedule, with off-peak fares in effect on all trains today.

Suffolk County Transit buses are not operating today.

Riverhead Free Library is also closed.

Municipal trash pickup in Riverhead will take place according to its regular schedule today and for the rest of the week.

Most retail stores will be open and operating with regular business hours.
