Residents are invited to share a cup of coffee with State Sen. Anthony Palumbo and Riverhead Town Police officers next Friday morning at the Riverhead library.
Palumbo will host “Coffee with a Cop” and a “Shed the Meds” prescription drug collection in cooperation with the Riverhead Police Department on Friday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Riverhead Free Library.
“Coffee with a Cop” gives participants the opportunity to sit down with Sen. Palumbo and local law enforcement in an informal setting to discuss the needs of our community and ask questions.
“Shed the Meds” allows residents to safely and anonymously dispose of expired or unwanted medications at no charge. All medications will be incinerated and can be brought in their original packaging. The police department is not able to accept liquids or sharps at this event.
“’Coffee with a Cop’ and ‘Shed the Meds’ are both great community outreach programs,” Sen. Palumbo said in a press release announcing the events. Residents will be able “to interact with local law enforcement, ask questions and talk more in-depth about concerns,” Palumbo said. At the same time, they will also be able to take advantage of a safe, convenient way to dispose of unwanted or expired prescription drugs, Palumbo said.
“I’m excited to combine these two programs for residents in and near Riverhead and look forward to the event,” Palumbo said.
