
Scot Rienecker of Jersey City, New Jersey, formerly of Cutchogue, died on Feb. 20, 2023. He was 50 years old.
He was born in Southampton on March 15, 1972 to Hank and Lynn (Whelan) Rienecker. He attended Mattituck-Cutchogue High School. He attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City and earned his bachelor’s degree in visual and graphic arts in 1994.
He worked for the Museum of Television and Arts in New York City. He voiced a cartoon character based on him called GOAT for 12 episodes on the Mega XLR Network Series, ”Downtown.” He was also a fully licensed tattoo artists and worked in Hoboken, New Jersey. He was employed as the managing editor of Tattoo Revue in the late 1990s.
His hobbies included painting, creating sculptures, building pieces of furniture for his parents, dominos, making chainmail creations and making pieces of jewelry. He also enjoyed going to comic-cons and attended them in New York City and Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by his parents of Cutchogue and his brother Hank (Camille) of Cutchogue.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 3 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 10 a.m. at DeFriest-Grattan officiated by Caren Heacock. Internment will follow at the Cutchogue Cemetery.
