The Suffolk County Police Department will host a recruitment and outreach event on Tuesday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the at the Suffolk County Community College Eastern Campus in Riverhead.
The event will help to promote career opportunities available for people looking to take the police exam on June 17. Representatives of both the college and the police department will be on hand to answer questions.
In particular, the event will focus on the benefits, opportunities and the requirements for applying to take the upcoming police exam, according to a press release from County Legislator Al Krupski, who along with County Legislator Bridget Fleming is coordinating the event.
The registration deadline for applicants looking to sign up to take the Exam in June is Tuesday, April 19. All applicants must be at least 19 years and 6 months old as of June 17, and must possess a standard high school or equivalency diploma.
Any individuals interested in becoming a police officer in any of the East End town or village police departments must take the Suffolk County police exam in order to apply to be a police officer in a town or village police department, Krupski said in the release.
The event will be held in in Lecture Hall 101 of the Shinnecock Building on the SCCC Eastern Campus, located at 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead NY 11901.
