On Saturday, July 1 Joe and I ventured to the Hotel Thayer at West Point to celebrate my aunt Pauline Grabowski’s 90th birthday party with a luncheon that of course had stuffed cabbage and kielbasa and sauerkraut on the menu. This was truly a family gathering as they ventured from Colorado, New Mexico, Florida and of course Suffolk and Westchester Counties. Her children Michael, Robert and Laura surprised her with this beautiful affair at the Hotel Thayer as that is Pauline’s favorite place to eat. Her son Guy was unable to attend and was surely missed. Robert and Laura put together a video and power point presentation depicting the life of their mother throughout her years with pictures and how life was for her growing up with her grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, sisters. and brothers. It was amazing to see the pictures from decades ago of how they dressed, lived, and socialized throughout their life span. Naturally. many pictures were taken so Pauline can make a special album to remember such a wonderful celebration honoring her 90th birthday! When all was said and done it was great for me to see all my cousins, my aunts and uncles and I could reminisce the times growing up with all of them. Of course, they reminded me that I was the oldest cousin and we chuckled how time really flies by.
