Early voting starts Saturday at 27 locations around Suffolk County, including locally in Riverhead at American Legion Post 273 at 89 Hubbard Avenue, Riverhead.

Early voting will run from Saturday to next Sunday, Nov. 5, according to the Suffolk County Board of Elections. The schedule gives voters the opportunity to cast their ballot before election day on Nov. 7.

The schedule for early voting is as follows:

Riverhead residents will choose a new town supervisor, two new town council members and a new town clerk during this year’s general election. The elected positions of tax receiver, town justice and two town assessors are also on the ballot this year, but all four of those positions are uncontested.

Residents will also choose a new Suffolk County executive and a new Suffolk County legislator for the First Legislative District. Four elected district court justices are also on the ballot and are running uncontested.

Two proposals are also on the ballot, both related to amendments to the New York State constitution. Proposal one authorizes an amendment to remove a special constitutional debt limitation for small city school districts. Proposal two extends for 10 years the authority of counties, cities, towns, and villages to remove from their constitutional debt limits debt for the construction of sewage facilities.

Voting on Election Day, Nov. 7, will take place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Voters must report to their regular polling place locations to vote on Election Day.
