Republican Catherine Stark cruised to victory in the First Legislative District, while Democrat Ann Welker won her bid to succeed longtime South Fork Legislator Bridget Fleming. Republicans retained a 12-6 majority in the legislature and captured the county executive's seat with a solid win by Ed Romaine over Dave Calone.
