Apple Honda’s annual breast cancer awareness month fundraising campaign for the North Fork Breast Health Coalition raised $7,600 this year, bringing its total fundraising for the all-volunteer nonprofit through this annual campaign to $86,542.

The Route 58 auto dealership presented representatives of the organization with the donation Wednesday in Apple Honda Route 58 showroom.

Apple Honda supports the North Fork Breast Health Coalition in its mission to assist community members coping with a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, General Manager Bill Fields said.

Each year, the dealership typically donates $50 for every new car sold and $1 for every repair made during the month of October, national breast cancer awareness month, to the North Fork Breast Health Coalition. But again this year, because of the ongoing new car inventory shortage since the pandemic, the dealership donated $50 for every new and used car sold during October. The dealership first launched its annual October fundraising effort in 2013.

“It was another great job by the staff,” Fields said. “North Fork Breast Health Coalition is a great organization we’ve committed to assist over the years,” he said. “They are a big benefit to the community and provide an invaluable service to people coping with breast cancer,” he said.

“We are happy to support the coalition and we’re hoping next year we can take it to the next level,” Fields said.

The North Fork Breast Health Coalition’s Helping Hands program offers $1,000 grants to patients coping with breast cancer. The grant can be used for any purpose. The group also offers — free of charge — yoga, reflexology, massage, meditation, wigs and scarves. The services are provided at the coalition’s office at 185 Old Country Road in Riverhead (opposite DMV plaza).

“They’re just really good people, members of the community. It’s always good to support not only a good cause but good people,” Fields said.
