Southampton Town Police reported the following arrests and incidents in the local area:
Ligia Lopez Menendez, 37, of Flanders, was arrested on Dec. 4 on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, Aggravated Criminal Contempt and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in connection with an Oct. 30 incident in Riverside. Police said. Lopez on that date struck a person in the head with a hammer in the presence of a juvenile, who was shoved during the incident, police said. After an investigation by detectives, Lopez was located by police, arrested and held for arraignment.
Cheryl Gormez, 58, of Riverhead, was arrested on Dec. 4 on charges of Menacing in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree after she threatened a man with a knife at a home on Cypress Avenue in Flanders. She was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court.
Ronal Matutebonilla, 19, of Riverhead, was charged with Leaving the Scene of Accident with Personal Injury and having an Open Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. Matutebonilla was arrested at police headquarters on Dec. 4. He was involved in a two-car motor vehicle accident on Flanders Road near Evergreen Road in Flanders on Nov. 21, police said. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Matutebonilla left the scene of the accident that night on foot without reporting the accident, police said. He was released on an appearance ticket for arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court on a future date.
