Two people were arrested on charges related to the sale of alcohol products to underage patrons during a compliance check conducted by Riverhead Town Police yesterday, police said in a press release.
The Riverhead Police Department Community Oriented Police Enforcement (COPE) Division, with cooperation from the Riverhead Community Awareness Program (CAP), conducted State Liquor Authority compliance checks at 19 retail vendors throughout the town on Aug. 20, resulting in two arrests, police said.
The compliance check targeted the sale of alcohol products to patrons under the age of 21.
Arrested were Faisal Mahmood, 28, an employee of the Mobil gas station at 3705 Middle Country Road in Calverton, and Mehmet Tunc, 64, an employee of the Shell gas station at 626 W. Main Street in Riverhead, police said. Both were charged with one count of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, in violation of New York State Penal Law
years old of Ronkonkoma and an employee of Mobil Gas Station and years old of Riverhead and an employee of Shell Gas Station were arrested and each charged with one count of Penal Law 260.20(2), Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. Both subjects were processed and released on a desk appearance ticket with a future court date, police said.
