Southampton Town Police have charged a Riverhead man with criminal mischief for breaking the windows of a Peconic Avenue storefront Monday.
Police said they received a call Monday at about 6:30 a.m. reporting broken windows at 102 Peconic Avenue in Riverside, the offices of ‘Riverside Rediscovered.’
After an investigation, police identified Shawn Mungin, 49, as the suspect and arrested him on Tuesday, according to a police press release.
Mungin was charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, including a felony charge, in connection with the incident, police said.
He was arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court on Tuesday and released for a future court date, according to the report.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
