All 24 retail establishments checked by Riverhead Police Friday in an enforcement sweep targeting the sale of tobacco and vape products to underage patrons were to be in compliance with the law, police announced in a press release.
State law prohibits the sale of tobacco and vape products to people under age 21.
The Riverhead Police Department’s COPE Division, in cooperation with the Riverhead Community Awareness Program and the Suffolk County Health Department conducted compliance checks at the 24 establishments across town Friday in an effort to reduce the sale of tobacco and vape products to under the age of 21.
