Historian Natalie A. Naylor will present a talk on the experiences and roles of Long Island women during the American Revolution on March 7 at 1 p.m. at the Suffolk County Historical Society.
The program, part of the society’s Book and Bottle Talk series, looks at how women lived through more than seven years of British occupation on Long Island, including skirmishes and other pressures of wartime life, and how they coped during the conflict.
Naylor, a Long Island history scholar who taught Long Island and American social history at Hofstra University for more than 30 years, and the author of “Women in Long Island’s Past: A History of Eminent Ladies and Everyday Lives,” will discuss women’s often overlooked contributions and daily realities during the Revolutionary era.
