Royston P. Rind Jr. of Mattituck died March 28, 2026, at home. He was 78 years old.
Born July 28, 1947, in Manhattan, he was the son of Helen (Tytler) and Royston P. Rind. After high school, he attended Ithaca College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. In his professional career, he worked as an accountant for Arthur Andersen in New York City, and later was self-employed as a woodworker. He enjoyed visiting his cabin in the Thousand Islands, Ontario. His passions included racehorses, especially the “trotters,” woodworking, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Antique Boating Museum in Clayton, New York, had multiple antique boats and also owned a Model A. He was also a supporter of the USO and VFW.
He was predeceased by his cousin, Harriet Wilkinson. He is survived by his wife, Karen P. Rind; his cousin, Jayme Wilkinson Somers; and his second cousins, Steven Wilkinson, Michael Wilkinson, Sean Wilkinson and Chris Wilkinson.
Entombment will take place at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mattituck Fire Department Rescue Squad or Southold Town PBA would be appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck.
