Willie E. Hopkins of Riverhead died Sept. 4, 2026, at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Quiogue. He was 72 years old.
Born May 9, 1954, in North Carolina, he was educated in North Carolina. He married Debra Smith on Oct. 22, 1985, in Riverhead. He worked as a paver for Steve Stanley Asphalt. He enjoyed football and basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Debra, of Riverhead; his children, Tiffany Robinson of Middle Island, Tasha Dean of Ridge, and Willie Jr. of Riverhead; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Monday, Sept. 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Galilee Church of God in Christ. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
