Diane Gail Palumbo of Mattituck died Oct. 13, 2026, at home. She was 83 years old.
Born Aug. 4, 1943, in Bay Shore, she was the daughter of Ellen (Larson) and Howard Shene and was one of three children. On June 21, 1961, in Blue Point, she married Anthony Palumbo. She was a stay-at-home mom. She was “past beloved queen” of the Southside Triangle No. 134 in Sayville and was also a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony. She is survived by her children, Lori Palumbo, Sharon Palumbo and Anthony H. Palumbo (Tracy); three grandchildren; and her sisters, Linda Johannessen and Janet Watts (David).
The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, officiated by the Rev. Michael Bartholomew. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
