More than 40 East End restaurants, bakeries, growers, wineries and breweries will lay out a smorgasbord of the best the region has to offer in this year's popular "Rotary Uncorked" fundraiser May 22 to benefit the Brendan House, Peconic Bay Medical Center and other local charities.
"Ninety-nine percent of the money raised for Rotary stays within the local community," said Rotarian Patrick Wiles, who chairs the Uncorked event. "We've probably raised over $120,000 with this event over the past seven years."

Riverhead ZBA approves Brendan House long-term care facility on Sound Avenue
There was hushed applause in town hall last night after Riverhead's Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved the proposal for the Brendan House, a local long-term care facility for those living with traumatic brain injuries.
Nobody spoke in opposition to the four-bed group home. ZBA officials said the facility complied with the definition of a single-family dwelling use, therefore the proposed use of a currently vacant Sound Avenue farmhouse in the agricultural protection zone is allowed without a variance.
Bolt Bus holds networking event to promote bus service and Hilton Garden Inn
Laughter, music and food filled Riverhead's Hilton Garden Inn Wednesday afternoon as local business representatives, government officials and community members gathered for a free event called "Wheels, Wine and Networking."

East End Drug Task Force raids Wading River home, busts teen on weapons and drug charges
A Wading River teenager was arrested on drug and weapons charges Wednesday morning after an early morning raid of his home at 49 Overhill Road by the East End Drug Task Force.
Justin Brewer, 19, was arraigned on six drug and weapons-related charges, two of them felonies. Police said they executed a search warrant at his home as part of an ongoing investigation into community complaints regarding drug sales activity.
