Anthony Wayne Smith, 57, who was already facing a slew of charges in Riverhead Justice Court when he allegedly slashed a man across the face with a knife last September, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge and was set free Sept. 8.

Anthony Wayne Smith, arrested on assault and weapons charges after allegedly knifing another man on Railroad Avenue Sept. 25 has been indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on felony assault and weapons charges, and a dozen misdemeanor charges, according to online court records.

The Riverhead man charged with slashing the face of a man on Railroad Avenue Thursday night had been freed without bail on a felony weapons possession charge in May and is currently facing more than a dozen other criminal charges, including prior weapons and menacing charges in Riverhead Justice Court dating back to 2008.

Anthony Wayne Smith, 56, of Riverhead, an ex-con with a history of weapons and assault convictions is charged in a knife attack on a Hispanic man at a Railroad Avenue market last night.
