Calverton shooting range

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is conducting a survey of well water in a Calverton neighborhood to check for "possible contamination" from a nearby “vegetative organic waste management site.”

The fire got up into the trees and with a strong breeze blowing, there was a serious risk of it getting out of control in the heavily wooded area, Riverhead Fire Chief Joe Raynor said.
