Riverhead library’s interim director Kathy Richter, hired in April after the abrupt departure of library director Joy Rankin, has resigned the position.

Riverhead Free Library trustees accepted the resignation of director Joy Rankin and appointed Kathy Richter of Greenport interim director at a special board meeting yesterday evening.

The only African-American trustee, who resigned in January, accuses the library trustees of racism and bigotry after the resignation of the library's first African-American director.
