Bethpage Ride, the countywide program that offered bike rentals in downtown Riverhead and at Veterans Memorial Park, stopped operating this year after the company formerly known as Bethpage Federal Credit Union declined to continue its sponsorship.

PedalShare bike rentals at the EPCAL recreation trail outpaced the other Riverhead rental spots — by a lot. The EPCAL site accounted for 85% of the rentals in Riverhead since the program launched in May.

On-street bike rentals are now available around downtown Riverhead and at the recreation trail at Veterans Memorial Park in Calverton. With a smart phone app, bikes can be rented hourly, daily or through an annual membership.
