Tucked away between the little-used train station and the MTA storage yard in Riverhead, hidden from view by what might seem to be abandoned...

Two historic retired train cars in Riverhead will become a living memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks when they're painted with a 120-foot long patriotic mural this weekend.

If it's related to railroading, it's at the Railroad Museum of Long Island's 26th anniversary open house this weekend.

The sprawling, incredibly detailed diorama on display at the Railroad Museum in Greenport has grown over the winter to include a miniature Riverhead Polish Hall among the iconic scenes and buildings of the North Fork.
