The owner of the dilapidated and long-vacant restaurant site on the corner of Griffing and Railroad avenues has until Sept. 12 to remedy conditions deemed unsafe by the Riverhead fire marshal, according to Riverhead deputy town attorney Dan McCormick.

The Rt. 58 former Blockbuster Video site, not far from Riverhead High School, may not be appropriate, board members say. The town wants to revisit its master plan in light of the new state law.

Hearings were held on proposed code amendments regarding rental dwelling unit permits, hunting permits and an E. Main Street zoning change, and the town board filled one of two vacancies on the Riverhead IDA.
