It was the second time in a week Riverhead police reported an early-morning assault at the establishment, which the town closed down a year ago after three violent assaults there between May and August last year.

A patron called police at 2 a.m. today, after he returned to his home following an alleged assault outside Royal Dorado Deli and Restaurant, which the town shut down last year for allegedly illegally converting the deli to a bar without proper permits.

The owners of the Royal Dorado Deli & Restaurant, shut down by the town for alleged code violations last month, have brought their premises into compliance and reopened, the town supervisor said.
