When Army National Guard Captain Charles Sanders realized young soldiers deploying to Afghanistan were too young to remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001, he set out to help educate them about the history leading up to that day and the wars that followed. Riverhead will mark anniversary of terror attacks with candlelight service at 9-11 Memorial Park on Sound Avenue
Friday marks the 14th anniversary of the terror attacks that claimed more than 3,000 lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Local residents will gather at 6:30 p.m. Friday for a candlelight remembrance procession and ceremony.
