Taxpayers descend on town hall, looking to avoid new $10,000 cap on deductibility of state and local taxes
Inspired by a change to federal income tax law that caps the deductibility of state and local taxes at $10,000, residents have been lined up outside the Riverhead tax receiver’s office since it opened for business at 8:30 yesterday morning.

Zeldin bucks party, votes ‘no’ on House tax reform bill
The bill is not the tax relief middle class wage earners were promised, Zeldin said in a statement this afternoon. Instead it is "a geographic redistribution of wealth" that takes extra money from a place like New York to pay for deeper tax cuts elsewhere.
