Riverhead Recreation Department has launched a new system to purchase the parking stickers needed to park at town beaches.

Riverhead's four town beaches will be open and staffed with attendants and lifeguards beginning Saturday, May 28 through June 19. As of June 25, they will be open seven days a week through Labor Day. Here's what you need to know.

An upgrade to parks and recreation department systems will bring wifi to town beaches this summer.

Riverhead Town 2020 beach parking stickers will be available for purchase at the Recreation Department office at Stotzky Park Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a special hour for seniors (age 60+) from 9 to 10 a.m.

The cost of parking at and driving on Riverhead Town’s beaches is going up this year, under a new fee schedule adopted Tuesday by the Riverhead Town Board. For the first time, permits can also be purchased on a mobile app this year.

Annual beach parking permit and 4x4 beach access fees will be rising this year.
