Family Community Life Center Presents Inaugural Community Service Recognition and Hall of Fame Gala
 
 
The Family Community Life Center, Inc. is presenting its inaugural Community Service Recognition and Hall of Fame Gala on Thursday, May 12. The event will be held at East Wind Caterers, Inn & Spa, 5720 Route 25A, Wading River, starting at 6:00 p.m.
 
The evening includes a cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres, a sit-down dinner, a silent auction and an awards and induction ceremony in recognition of its honorees. Tickets are at $150 per person, with all proceeds benefiting the Family Community Life Center’s Building Fund. FCLC’s complex will be a comprehensive facility featuring a performing arts theater, a 24-hour childcare facility (the Child Development and Learning Center, or CDLC), a senior citizens wellness and daycare center, a major sports and recreational compound, office suites and one- and-two bedroom apartment units.
 
The Community Service Recognition and Hall of Fame Gala honors those who have sown the seeds and faithfully nurtured the vision for the construction of the FCLC community center and workforce housing complex. This year’s Community Service Recognition awardees are Barry D. Barth of Barth Pharmacy of Riverhead and Mattituck and Dr. Frances L. Brisbane, Dean, School of Social Welfare at State University of New York at Stony Brook.
 
This year’s event will induct its first Hall of Fame class. The inductees are Mary Horne, former volunteer community advocate and retired social worker (awarded posthumously); Betty Langhorne, community volunteer; Robert Obie, Sr., Chairman of the Diaconate Ministry, First Baptist Church of Riverhead, senior companion and community volunteer.
