On this hot, steamy day, the races were in full swing as the day began with the Super Pro Trucks. It was a crowded field, and there were accidents galore. First lap began with a spinout/crash involving truck #2x & truck #3. At the restart, #9 spun out, again causing a caution flag to go up. For the remainder of the race, the battle was between #88 Roger Turbush and #97 David Koenig. In lap 10, #97 spun out enabling #81 Chris Turbush to move into his spot. In the end, #88 Roger Turbush spun out in turn 3 of the final lap, giving the lead and the win to #81 Chris Turbush in the Super Pro Trucks, his 4th of the year.
It was a clean and uneventful 20 lap Blunderbust race, as #19 Robert Bader Jr. went all out for the victory.
In the Charger heat, it was a battle the entire race between #1 C. J. Lehmann Jr. and #42 Frank Dumicich. C. J. Lehmann Jr. was determined to go home victorious as he pressed his #1 car to the limit. Other than a spinout in laps 11 and 14, the deciding factor came once again in the final lap, as #42 Frank Dumicich slammed into the turn 3 wall and the victory went to #1 C. J. Lehmann Jr., his second of the year.
In a packed 77 lap Modified field, a few spinouts and a pileup caused a caution flag in lap 13, which was a preview of things to come. There was a red flag issued in lap 45 as the track needed to be cleaned due to large amounts of debris, and fluids on the track. A single file restart showed cars 6, 21, 0, 98 as the first four. In lap 63 a two car spinout caused a yellow caution flag, but the race began once again. In the final lap the winner was Ronnie Silk in the #6 car.
The final race, the ever popular figure eights, was a real barn burner. In the two lap warm up, a two car accident occurred, but proved uneventful. A wide variety of cars were in this race including a truck, #8 whose brakes were glowing red by the first few laps (see photo). There was an all out assault by #34 Arne Pedersen to take home the trophy; at times his front wheel leaving the ground going around the turns. He fought off the hard charging cars of #14 Tom Ferrara and #58 Ken Hyde for the victory.
