John M. Ziemacki of Jamesport died Nov. 10, 2012. He was 90 years old.

Born in Jamesport on May 4, 1922, he was the son of Mitchell G. Ziemacki and Victoria (Zaweski) Ziemacki. He married Caroline Sadowski and together they raised three children in Jamesport.

He was a builder and a farmer. Ziemacki also served the Town of Riverhead as a tax assessor, building inspector, and highway superintendent. He was also an original member of the Jamesport Fire Department. Ziemacki enjoyed building birdhouses and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife Caroline; his son Donald of Alexandria, Va.; his daughter Sandra Ballard of Topsham, Maine; his son Allen of Jamesport; his brother Felix; his sister Helen Raynor; his sister Victoria Martin; his sister Stella Burgess of Fla.; and his sister Marion Ashook. His is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 16 at Mclaughlin Heppner Funeral Home at 336 Marcy Ave., Riverhead. A mass of christian burial will take place Saturday Nov. 17 at St. Isidore’s Roman Catholic Church at 622 Pulaski St., Riverhead. Interment to follow at St. Isidore’s Cemetery on Reeves Ave., Riverhead. Donations may be made to the American Red Cross Sandy Relief Fund.
